Using this site
Pool Water Calculator provides free pool calculators and guides for general information. You may use the site for personal, non-commercial purposes, and you may share links to any page. Please do not copy large parts of the site, scrape it in bulk, or present our content as your own.
Results are estimates
Every calculator result is an estimate. Results depend on the numbers you enter, and real pools differ from any formula: pool shapes are irregular, test kits have limits, product strengths vary and weaken in storage, and water chemistry responds to sun, temperature, bathers and rain. Cost figures are national ranges from published guides and are not quotes.
Treat each result as a starting point. For chemical doses, add part of the amount, let the water circulate, retest and adjust. Our methodology page documents every formula and its limitations.
Always follow the product label
If a calculator result and a product label disagree, follow the label. Manufacturers’ directions, dose limits, safety warnings and waiting times take priority over anything on this site. The same applies to your salt chlorinator, heater, pump and other equipment: follow the manufacturer’s manual.
Chemical safety
Pool chemicals are hazardous. Handled wrongly, they can cause burns, eye injuries, fires and toxic gas. By using our calculators, you accept responsibility for handling chemicals safely:
- Never mix pool chemicals with each other, and keep acids and chlorine products apart, including in storage.
- Always add chemicals to water, never water to chemicals.
- Wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection, and work in a well-ventilated area.
- Store chemicals in their original labeled containers, out of reach of children and pets.
- Keep swimmers out of the water until levels are back in a safe range.
