Privacy Policy

This policy explains, in plain English, what information Pool Water Calculator collects, why, who else handles it, and the choices you have. Effective date: October 5, 2026.

By the Pool Water Calculator editorial team · Updated · How we calculate

The short version

Pool Water Calculator is a free set of pool calculators and guides. You do not need an account, and the calculators run in your browser. We collect personal information only when you choose to contact us, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, and Google may use cookies to show ads.

Who we are

This site, poolwatercalculator.com, is published by the Pool Water Calculator editorial team. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean the site’s publisher. You can reach us at hello@poolwatercalculator.com or through the contact page.

No accounts

There is nothing to sign up for. We do not ask for a username, password, address, phone number or payment details anywhere on the site.

Calculator inputs stay in your browser

The numbers you type into a calculator, such as pool dimensions or test results, are processed by code running in your own browser. They are not sent to us or stored on our servers.

To save you retyping, the site saves one value on your device: your most recent pool volume in gallons, kept in your browser’s local storage so other calculators can pre-fill it. It stays on your device, we cannot see it, and you can remove it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for poolwatercalculator.com. If local storage is blocked, for example in a private window, the calculators still work; they just will not remember your volume.

Contact form and email

If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, your email address and your message.

  • How it is sent. Form submissions are delivered to our inbox as an email through Forward Email, our email delivery provider.
  • What we use it for. Only to read and reply to your message, and to fix any error you report.
  • What we do not do. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not sell or share your details for marketing, and we do not use them for advertising.
  • Spam protection. The form includes a hidden field that automated bots tend to fill in, and your IP address is used briefly to limit repeated submissions. We do not keep the IP address in a database.

We keep correspondence only as long as we need it to handle your message and keep a record of corrections. You can ask us to delete your messages at any time.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel’s systems automatically process technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose problems. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, such as which calculators and pages are visited, roughly where visitors are located (country or region level), the type of device and browser, and how people arrive at the site. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and receives your IP address to provide this; GA4 does not log or store IP addresses. We use these reports in aggregate to improve the calculators and guides, and we do not use them to identify you. You can opt out of Google Analytics on all sites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and you can learn how Google uses this data in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Advertising and cookies

Pool Water Calculator is free because it is supported by advertising. We use, or may use, Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure performance and prevent fraud. When ad personalization is on, ads may be based on your interests and on your visits to this and other sites.

Google explains this in detail in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. We do not control the data Google collects, and we do not receive information that identifies you personally from Google.

Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. Where the law requires it, you will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform before personalized ads or related cookies are used. You can decline, and you can change your choice later through the same consent tool. If you decline, Google may still show non-personalized ads, which rely on limited data such as general location and the page content.

How to opt out of personalized ads

You have several ways to limit ad tracking:

  1. Google Ads Settings. Visit Google Ads Settings to turn off ad personalization for your Google account or browser.
  2. Browser controls. Block or delete third-party cookies in your browser settings, or browse in a private window.
  3. Device settings. On phones and tablets, use your operating system’s advertising ID settings to reset or limit ad tracking.

Turning off personalization does not remove ads; it makes them less tailored.

We do not sell your personal information

We do not sell, rent or trade the personal information you send us. The only third parties that handle information on our behalf are our hosting provider (Vercel), our email delivery provider (Forward Email) and, for advertising, Google as described above.

Children’s privacy

This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it is used. Because we hold so little, usually only your contact emails, the simplest way to exercise these rights is to email us. We will respond within the time the law in your location requires.

Our pages link to outside sources such as government agencies, manufacturers and cost guides. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes, such as adding a new analytics or advertising service, will be reflected here before they take effect.
